Content creation can be difficult, and overwhelming. Here is an example.
Tesla Themes is now under the Imagely brand, and my job at Imagely is content creation. But we run many websites.
Not to mention all social media channels, including YouTube for video.
It’s hard enough to come up with content ideas for five Imagely websites, so how does any person come up with content for one website?
In the rest of this article, we’re going to share a few tips on that topic.
Notes on the go
If you’re a pen and paper type of person, then keep a notebook of all your ideas. Add bullet points and sketches if you need to. Keep it going.
If you don’t like carrying things with you all the time then use your phone. Apps like Apple Notes, Google Keep, Evernote, Dropbox Paper and many others can really keep you organized.
Always be looking
Inspiration is everywhere. If you stop looking, you might not see it. Be inspired by your daily life, your friends, your family. The tasks you have to do that day. But always be looking for that next idea.
Have A LOT of ideas
Ideas can come and go quickly. Especially when you’re always looking for them. So have a giant list of ideas, even if some aren’t as good as others. Because you can inspire yourself into having new and better ideas, from your crappy ones.
Try writing 5-10 ideas down each day, even if they’re horrible. Training yourself to do so will help you come up with better ideas.
Eat the dogfood
Not literally! What we mean by that is to consume content that you would create yourself. For example, if you want to make YouTube videos then you need to watch a lot of YouTube videos. If you want to write text content, then you have to read a lot of text content, like this blog. Creating a podcast? Then you should be listening to them too.
There will be those who disagree with that statement, though. Look at Gary Vaynerchuk. He has many books published but doesn’t read books.
Use Google Suggestions
To see if your ideas are good, or potentially adjust your bad ideas into good ideas, do a Google search. The results page will offer suggestions (at the bottom) of related searches. Use one of them as the headline and create your content to fill in the information.
What do you do?
Now it’s your turn. So much of the Tesla Themes community are content creators. So what do you do to come up with new ideas? Comment and let us know.
